Description
AB 15x20 water to air heat exchanger is designed for hydronic heating and cooling systems that require stable thermal transfer performance in a compact structure. Built with copper tubes and aluminum fins, this unit supports heat exchange between hot or chilled water and moving air in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications.
The heat exchanger can be integrated into systems using boilers, outdoor wood furnaces, solar-assisted heating systems, and other closed-loop hydronic setups.
Key Features
Copper Tube and Aluminum Fin Construction
The heat exchanger is built with 3 rows of 3/8" seamless copper tubes and high-density aluminum fins. The combination of copper tubing and wavy aluminum fins increases contact surface area and supports efficient air-to-water heat transfer performance.
Thermal Performance
This model is rated at approximately 110,000 BTU under standard operating conditions. Depending on airflow, water temperature, and system setup, the unit may support higher heat transfer output in certain applications. The coil design includes 12 aluminum fins per inch to balance airflow and thermal efficiency.
Reinforced Structural Design
The unit features a steel shell structure with brazed contact points and reinforced edges for improved structural stability under varying pressure and temperature conditions. An epoxy coating on the aluminum fins helps improve surface durability and long-term wear resistance.

- Direct pipeline connection with clamps
- Brazed or welded piping connections
- Adapter fittings
- Riveted mounting configurations
This flexibility allows integration into both new installations and retrofit heating or cooling systems.
Typical Applications
This water to air heat exchanger can be used in a variety of hydronic heating and cooling environments, including:
- Outdoor wood furnace systems
- Residential forced-air heating systems
- Commercial HVAC systems
- Air conditioning support systems
- Hybrid heating applications
- Solar-assisted thermal systems
- Inverter cooling systems
Its compact form factor also helps reduce installation space requirements in ducted air handling systems.
System Compatibility
The heat exchanger is suitable for closed-loop hot water or chilled water circulation systems and can be paired with:
- Boilers
- Outdoor wood boilers
- Heat pumps
- Solar thermal systems
- Hydronic air handlers
- Fan coil units
Proper sizing should be based on airflow volume, inlet water temperature, and target heating or cooling requirements within the system design.
FAQ and Support
Tips for mounting Air to Water Heat Exchanger:
If your air system has an overheat sensor, be sure to install the Air to Water Heat Exchanger far enough away from it so that the heat from the exchanger won't interfere with the sensor's readings.
